Class project 01 - Collage: Full transparency, I got to Class Project 08 and looked at my BYOL blender projects folder, and realised I had neglected to complete Class Project 01, so here it is, I have utilised some assets and PNG, images that were built or installed as materials through the course. Brief is a new Gin brand with a tropical & exotic style. Not sure if butterfly pea flower is Tropical, and graffiti is exotic, but it fits the final product theme and build science.

Lighting was a big learning curve and I still wasn't able to get it where I like it, but I'm a lot more comfortable with the controls now.

Had a Blast making this Vintage Whiskey Collage. Lighting was definitely my favorite part. Excited for what's next!

This is my third version of the exercise. At first I've worked with a green olive photo as background, but since my brief says "sophisticated and minimalist" I've tried another approach with a plain white background and a noble looking and not too turbulent gallery view of olives, the product itself and an olive tree. I definetely have to work on a good lighting because it's neither too dark/grey-ish or so bright that the pictures loose its contrast.

Hello! As a client for this project, I’m working with Elias’s Whiskey, a vintage brand. So I decided to create this collage as a kind of display for the whiskey bottles. I like the aesthetic and the communicative appeal of Japanese whiskey, so that will be my main inspiration for this project. I experimented a bit with some camera settings, as well as with lighting and color. Thank you!

Wanted to go for a very sleek black and white look that provides the image with a sense of cohesion. Lighting needs work, but the tool was easy to add in and manipulate. Text, though not necessary, could add to the overall appeal of the collage.

As soon as i think of edgy, i though of death, and as soon as i seen my project had to be industrial, i thought of a factory. My companies name was O'breanna's so i thought a women holding a gun would be suitable.

Design is an absolute mess. I was only testing out importing cutout pngs and backgrounds with simple text. Thank you very much for this amazing course.

Here is my mood-board for Sophia's Tequila! The brand core are vibrant and youthful. *I was having issues with the text underline: I haven't chose an underline and it still adds it. I don't event have the option to chose an underline. There is a setting that looked like it had to do with the thickness of the underline and even though I put 0 there the underline still shows. Not sure what's going on with that.

I really had fun making my first class project which is a collage for and ketchup brand, the information from classes played a key role and also creativity does the remaining part which is different from building.

Robin Ruud
3D Designer & Animator
instructorI am a 3D Designer and Animator and my mission is to help level up the Blender community from hobbyists to professionals.
I first got into 3D design through a required course at college. It wasn’t love at first sight, but the challenge pulled me in - I’m stubborn like that! What started as a reluctant introduction became a deep and lasting creative focus.
My background is in design and marketing, and I’ve always been drawn to projects that blend design, 3D and motion - things like product renders, poster artwork, and brand animations. Blender became my go-to tool, and it’s now at the heart of everything I make.
These days, I share what I’ve learned on YouTube as Robin Squares, where I create Blender tutorials for designers, animators, and curious creatives. I live in Norway, where I split my time between teaching, making, and writing.
