Hey everyone, it is class project time... we're going to tie in all the component properties... that we've learned in the previous few videos... and I'm going to get you to make one button to rule them all... it's going to be your Main button for your app... and I'm going to get you, force you to do a few things to it...
it's a really good example of the type of button you will be creating. Basically, I'm going to read through all of these, but let me show you kind of... like this is a smaller version of it, yours is going to be a bit more complex... but basically this stuff, where there's a main button... there is two different colors, there's two different sizes... there's an icon on the right...
and over here I have the ability to... adjust them and turn them all off when I'm working with my instance of it... simple instance with a lot of control... so what do you actually have to do? So the Button text, I want you to be able to turn it on and off with a Boolean... and make the text editable...
won't go through every single one of these but I'll just give you a for instance... like in that case, in your main Component, or actually, in my instance... I want to be able to to turn the text on and off with the Boolean... and be able to change the text... from within the Properties Inspector... with the icon, same thing, turn it on/off, but this one has an instant swap.
So remember, before, we can go through, and from this... go through and pick a different instance... the different icons from this Preferred list... and I want you to make sure you're using the Preferred list as well... see if you can get that working, what else? I want you to have variants...
there's going to be a default size, a small one and a large one... often, just done with a padding, you might have to adjust the font size as well... and there's going to be three colors, this thing is going to get big, man... Primary, Secondary, and when we use Outline... it'll be something like this where there's an outlined version of it... it's going to be a default, a small, and a large version of those as well.
I want you to make sure that the Simplify Instances is turned on... so when people are using it, kind of tidies up that Property Inspector... you might have to go back to to that video to work out that one... and the last one is, like this is going to be a bit of work on its own... if you are a sucker for punishment... and you really want to just kind of like push your skills...
and make something really complete... is you can put in the optional states... that's Default, Hover, Pressed, Disabled... that's these ones, you, you, you... Outline has its own one, you, you, you, and Disabled... that's optional, because I realize this is getting a pretty big project on its own...
and if you are doing it, get the interactions to work so that when you have got an instance of it... you, down here, and I preview it... that it works, Hover works, when you click it, it goes to the Pressed state... so see if you can make that. Deliverables, I want to see a screenshot... it's probably the easiest way to have a look...
what I would do, is get your Main component, get it nicely laid out... so it's not looking like a mess... and be in Design view, and take a screenshot of all of this... so that I can see all the properties as well as all the variants over here... that'd be perfect. Optional, is, it'd be great if you can, I don't know, not everyone is doing it...
be great to see a video of you looking at this instance here... not a preview of it but just going through here and going... "Look, look what I can do"... and it all working... that would be the key... being able to do all this stuff with a short video...
if you do do that make sure you upload it... remember, Vimeo, YouTube, Behance is another good place... and then just share the link of you making your mega button work... share it on social media as well... and use the # FigmaAdvanced so I can check it out. If you run into any problems, post that up...
and because we're doing the, two people commenting on other people's work thing... if it's not me or one of the TAs... one of your fellow students will help with any problems you might have had... and if you found it, well, you eventually worked it out... make sure you go and help somebody else that might be having trouble. All right, one button to rule them all...
enjoy the frustration... it's going to be trickier for some than others... but go in, get messy, see if you can make it happen... and I will see you in the next video... oh, don't be afraid to watch any of the previous videos as well... in case you're like, "Oh man, how did he do that?"...
jump back through old videos, go watch them again... all right, that's it, let's get on to the next video.
